Department of Radiology is equipped with a Digital X ray, Computerized Radiography, Ultra Sonogram and a DEXA machine.
Digital Radiography gives pictures with clarity, a basic necessity for correct diagnosis in orthopaedics. With Digital radiography, the radiation exposure to the patient is very minimal. Women with suspected pregnancy are not permitted to enter the radiology department. We adopt “No Film” concept. Unless there is a specific request from the patient, X-rays are not printed on film. The X-ray picture can be viewed on the digital screens in all consultation rooms and operation theatre.
The computerized radiography serves as a standby. X-ray requests generated in house are honored. For outside doctor’s prescription, contact the reception for generating prescription by indoor doctors. X-ray services are available round the clock.
DEXA scan is a technique by which the whole body is screened. A detailed report of the bone density, the fat content in the body etc. is received. This examination is done to determine the bone density of patients. Women after 45 years of age and men after 50 years of age tend to lose their bone strength over a period of time. The bone loss will worsen over a period of
time that at some point, there could be spontaneous fractures. DEXA scan can identify bone loss at an early stage so that further deterioration could be prevented by using medications. Sever bone loss can occur in patients on cancer treatment. DEXA scan is open for public. DEXA scan is also used by dietitian to assess the percentage of fat in the body so that appropriate diet can be prescribed to reduce only the fat. Contact reception for fixing appointment.
Ultrasound scanning is done by experts in the field. Routine and musculoskeletal ultrasound are done. Screening of new-born for congenital dysplasia of hip is done as a routine.
Color doppler for the limbs and neck are done routinely.
Echo cardiogram is also available.
